FAQ

Q: What is an LED?

LED stands for light emitting diode. LED lighting products produce light up to 90% more efficiently than incandescent light bulbs. How do they work? An electrical current passes through a microchip, which illuminates the tiny light sources we call LEDs and the result is visible light. To prevent performance issues, the heat LEDs produce is absorbed into a heat sink.

Q: What is the lifetime of an LED lighting product?

The useful life of LED lighting products is defined differently than that of other light sources, such as incandescent or compact fluorescent lighting (CFL). LEDs typically do not “burn out” or fail. Instead, they experience ‘lumen depreciation’, wherein the brightness of the LED dims slowly over time. With Energy Star and DLC certified LED One products, you are assured that the products meet specific requirements of the color quality.

Q:How Efficient an LED Product is?

LED Products are known for their efficiency and savings in electricity usage. Lumens Per Watt is the best measurement of efficiency of an LED Products. Lumens are a measure of light output or the total amount of visible light and the wattage indicates the electricity the product will use. The higher level of lumens with the lower wattage indicates a more efficient products. DLC updates the energy requirements constantly and LED One closely follows their steps to provide better products.

Q:What is Color Temperature? Do I have to make the choice before purchase?

The color temperature of a light source is the temperature of an ideal black-body radiator that radiates light of a color comparable to that of the light source. Certain color temperature works for certain environment so options are based on the user preferences and the application of the lights. If you are not sure which color temperature of the light is needed or need to test it on site, LED One provides color temperature selectible products. You don't need to make decision before purchase now, just try out all the options on the light before installing all of them and you will find the one you like.
