Decorating Your Home for Christmas with LED Lights

It’s the time of year where everyone is starting to get in the Christmas spirit by decorating their homes both inside and out. Many homeowners are choosing LED lights over incandescent lights because they are visually appealing and better on the budget. If you are gearing up to put lights on the outside of your house, the team here at LED One has a few tips for you.

1. Consider Your Budget for Christmas LED Lights

Look at the cost of the LED lights you plan to purchase and measure out approximately how much of your house you can cover with a strand. You will need to consider the pitch of your roof in the measurement. If you don’t have a large budget to work with, you can decorate a smaller part of your house this year and plan to add to the design in the years to come.

It’s also important that when you are considering the budget for your LED lights, that you think of extension cord costs. To create your design, you may need to run extension cords from one section to the next. If nothing else, you will at least need to get the strand to the closes outlet.

2. Come up With The Design

Since it is very difficult to figure out how many strands of lights you will need for your home, it is best to stick with decorating one thing on your house at a time. You can start with some of these areas and see how far you get:

  • Door and nearby windows
  • Bushes to the side of your entryway
  • Along the roof on the front of the house only
  • Sidewalk
  • A tree in the yard
  • Columns on the porch
  • Lamppost
  • Flower pots beside your front door

Pick a focal point that interests you most and decorate it first with the lights you have. Then, if you have lights left, pick the next thing on your list that you want to focus on.

You will need to consider how to tie the lights from one focal area to the next to make. If you have to have multiple cords to plug in your LED lights, it is going to make it difficult to cut them on each night.

3. Consider Hiring Someone to Help on High Areas

If you have a very high roof or you just aren’t comfortable on a ladder, consider hiring someone to come out and install them for you. To help with your budget, you could decorate the lower sections of your home and the areas you feel best. But, don’t be afraid to have a professional come out and put lights up high on your roof.

The best thing about decorating your home is that you can share beauty with those that drive by as well as the memories you create for your own family. Investing in Christmas lights can bring you much joy during the season.
