Using LED Lighting on Your Automobile

Our LED Distribution team would like to share some of the advantages, and some of the fun you can have with LED lights on your vehicle.

First, Let’s Talk Safety and Advantages of LED Car Lights

Forty percent of accidents occur at night time. LED lights are brighter, produce less heat, and last longer. Most incandescent lights are rated at 14Im/W. LED’s are rated at 57Im/W. That makes LED’s 4 times brighter.

When you are driving at night, with LED lighting you can see things sooner so you can respond quicker. And, when your lights are brighter others can see you more easily.

Another reason you can see better with LED lighting is the color temperature of the LED lighting. The color is similar to that of natural daylight, making visibility better.

Another big advantage of LED lighting is their ability to focus the direction of the light. Incandescent car lighting spreads the light into areas that do not help your vision. An LED light focuses on the specific direction they are set for. That gives you more light while keeping the lights from blinding other drivers.

The initial cost of LED lights is higher than for incandescent lighting. However, the life expectancy of LED’s is longer than the car is expected to be in use. They are not sensitive to vibration, is a problem for other forms of lighting in vehicles.

LED lighting is more efficient, which means they’ll use less energy. Using less energy results in improved fuel efficiency. LED lights cost more initially. However, they more than make up for the cost through their fuel efficiency and long life.

Now, Let’s Talk Fun

LED lighting is a fun way to turn your vehicle into a party car! LED light strip kits are available to easily light up the exterior or the interior of your car. Lighting can be installed under your dash area, the sides of your seat, and under the console. Put them behind your grill, in the wheel wells or under the sides of your vehicle. Put them under the hood, inside your trunk or under your car, whatever strikes your fancy.

A remote allows you to change the color, and some even ‘fade’ from one color. It’s a great way to switch up the atmosphere with your mood. Consider holidays – you can change the light color to match the holiday! Use red lights for Valentine’s Day, or red and green at Christmas time.

The lights can react to the beat of the music. LED’s are energy-efficient and don’t heat the interior of your car. Pump up the sound and light up the beat!

Installation Is Easy:

LED strip lights are so lightweight you can hold them in place with zip ties or double-stick tape. Hide the wiring by tucking it under the trim or console. Decide where you want to put the remote so you have easy access to it. You might secure it on the side of the center console or the dash in a convenient area. Some light kits plug into the USB port, the cigarette lighter. Other kits might use the fuse box or the battery of your car.

Check with your state for any restrictions. Some states are sensitive to red, blue, or flashing lights under the car lighting. You don’t want to be confused with police or emergency vehicles.
